Textile Designer

Η Αλεξάνδρα Μπίσα είναι σχεδιάστρια υφάσματος. Χρησιμοποιεί τον αργαλειό ως μέσο για να εκφράσει την δημιουργικότητά της. Στόχος της είναι η ανάδειξη της σημασίας του σχεδιασμού και της ποιότητας, μέσα από πρωτότυπα χειροποίητα design αντικείμενα. Τα σχέδια της είναι το αποτέλεσμα της επικοινωνίας μεταξύ του παρελθόντος και του σήμερα, του χειροποίητου και του ψηφιακού. Η Αλεξάνδρα συνεργάζεται με σχεδιαστές και αρχιτέκτονες για τη δημιουργία μοναδικών υφασμάτων ενώ ταυτόχρονα δημιουργεί και μια σειρά από δικά της προϊόντα.

Alexandra Bissa is a textile designer based in Athens, Greece, who works on a dobby loom. She creates hand-woven design objects inspired by ancient & traditional Greek textiles, design, arts & architecture.

Alexandra discovered her passion for handmade textiles in Metsovo – a village in Northern Greece – where she spent her childhood summers watching her grandmother create colourful handwoven textiles. After graduating with a BA in Interior Design from the Technical University of Athens, she spent a year in Metsovo learning the craft and secrets of the loom from local women. She then further honed her design skills with an MA in Textile Design at the University of the Arts London.

Made with quality materials meticulously sourced by the designer herself mostly from Greek suppliers, her designs are the result of a conversation between the past & the present, craft & digital, people & nature.

Alexandra creates original design products for her own brand, while she also collaborates with other luxury fashion & design houses to create bespoke designs exclusively for them. Each design object is handmade, unique and created by Alexandra in her studio in Athens.
